Enterovirus 68, or EV-68 is a member of the same family of viruses as the common cold. Bandera ISD continues to keep updated on the prevalence of EV-68 through frequent updates from the Bandera County Public Health Service, the Texas Department of State Health Services and the Center for Disease Control. School administration, school nurses and campus custodians are made aware of any new information presented about EV-68 and its prevention as it becomes available. Campus health curriculum emphasizes to students and staff the effectiveness of frequent and thorough handwashing with soap as well as  proper etiquette for covering the nose/mouth when sneezing or coughing.
