As mandated by the 76th
Texas Legislature in 1999, The Texas Assessment of
Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) was administered
beginning in the 2002-2003 school year.

Students enrolled in
high school before the 2011-2012 school year
will continue to take TAKS. The TAKS test measures
the statewide curriculum in reading at Grade 9; in
English Language Arts at Grades 10 and 11; in
mathematics at Grades 9-11; in science at Grades 10
and 11; and social studies at Grades 10, and 11.

As mandated with by the
81st Legislature, The State of Texas
Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) is the new
state assessment program that begins in Spring
2012.
·
STAAR will be the
current state assessment program for student in
grades 3-8 and the entering freshman class of
2011-2012.
