Grade Bulldogs Earn District Title
Bandera, Texas
● November 13, 2009
The Bandera Bulldogs 7th
grade A team ended their season with another shut out by
defeating the Pirates from Lytle by a score of 36-0.
Bandera Running Backs, Landon Ventura, Averie Mansfield,
and Luke Williams carried the team through most of the
season, but against Lytle, it was the Quarterbacks time
to shine. Ty Neff and Noah Nelson share time at
Quarterback but also play receiver when they are not
under center. On the first play of the game, QB, Neff
connected with Nelson for the first score of the game on
a pass good for 49 yards. The P.A.T. was added on
another pass from Neff to Calvin Bankston and the
Bulldog lead is 8-0. On the Dogs second offensive play
they scored on pass this time from Nelson to Neff. The
reception was good for 39 yards. The P.A.T failed and
the Dogs lead by 14. The 3rd score of the
game came on a run by Nelson good for 27 yards and the
P.A.T was kicked by Nelson with Neff holding and the
Dogs lead increases to 21-0. The Neff to Nelson
combination was called on again and the Dogs scored on
another pass from Neff to Nelson good for 52 yards. The
P.A.T. was added on a pass from Neff to Wide Out Wes
Joseph and the Bulldog lead stands at 29-0. The final
score of the night was added by QB Nelson on a sneak
from the 3 yard line and again the kick was added by
Nelson again held by Neff.
The Bulldogs ended the
2009 season as Middle School District champs. Their
record was 8-0, with a 5-0 district record. The Bulldogs
offense was a success by scoring 219 points this season
because of the hard work of the Offensive Linemen, which
includes Center, Alex Gonzales, Guards Nick Andreas and
Kyle Wilson, Tackles Sterling Gardner and Chase Haddad.
The Bulldogs defense held strong though out the year
only allowing 2 touchdowns. The defense gave up 6 points
against Llano and 6 points against Wimberley, which were
the first 2 games of the season. The Dog Defense shut
out the next 6 opponents.
The Lytle 7th
grade did not have a B team so the Bandera team split
into two teams so they would not end their season
without playing. The teams were divided into a Blue and
a White team. The game put team mate against team mate
but that did not stop the competitiveness and hard
hitting. This may have been one of the toughest games
the B team faced all year. The Blue team scored on runs
of 70, 60, 68, 57 yards. The White team scored on runs
of 12, 55, 35 yards and on a pass from Quarterback Neal
McLean (who was the QB for both teams) good for 27
yards. The B team also district champs had a great year
and only allowed 6 points the entire season. The Bulldog
offense scored 108 points in their perfect season with a
record of 6-0.
