BANDERA ISD TAKS SCORES IN READING BEAT THE STATE
Bandera, Texas
● March 28, 2008
The
preliminary TAKS Reading scores for Grades 3, 5, and 8
are in, and Bandera ISD students have exceeded the state
passing rate at all levels. For the very first time,
eighth graders must pass reading and math to advance to
their ninth grade year. All three grade levels must pass
the TAKS Reading exam in order to advance to the next
grade in 2008-2009. Fifth and eighth grade students must
also pass the math exam administered later this year in
order to advance.
At the District level:
-
152 Eighth Grade
Students participated in taking the TAKS Reading
tests. Out of those 152 students, 98.0% met
the standards set by the State to “pass” the test.
-
142 Fifth Grade
Students participated in taking the TAKS Reading
tests. Out of those 142 students, 90.1% met
the standards set by the State to “pass” the test.
-
160 Third Grade
Students participated in taking the TAKS Reading
tests. Out of those 160 students, 89.4% met
the standards set by the State to “pass” the test.
Students not passing this
first administration of TAKS Reading have two more
opportunities – April 30th and July 2nd.
