Three
More Opportunities to See Aladdin
There are three more
opportunities to see Disney's Aladdin Jr., the fall
production for the Bandera High School theatre students.
The performances are November 13th, 14th, and 15th at
6:30 PM in the Bandera High School auditorium. Ticket
prices are $5 for adults and $3 for students. Based on Disney's 1992
Oscar winning animation Aladdin, this stage adaptation
contains characters like Aladdin, played by Travis
Eigner; Jasmine, played by Brandi Neely; and The Genie,
played by Lamar Lewis. Filled with magic, mayhem, and
magic carpet rides, the BHS theatre group take the
audience on a journey to Agrabah, City of Enchantment,
where every beggar has a story and every camel has a
tail. |

District Conducts Security and Safety Audit
Bandera ISD District and
Campus Administrators participated in a Safety Audit
conducted by Tom Kelley and Jose Contreras from the
Texas School Safety Center. According to Texas Law,
Bandera ISD is responsible for the implementation of a
security and safety audit once every three years. The
purpose of the audit is to identify safety and security
practices, policies, and needs of a campus and to make
recommendations to help the school create the safest
environment possible for students.
“The safety of our
students and staff is our top priority” stated
Superintendent Dr. Kevin Dyes. “These audits help us
improve academic achievement by providing a safe
environment for learning”. During the course of the
safety audit, administrators gathered data for use in
the school’s emergency operations plan and discovered
more ways to protect students and staff from accidental
or intentional injury. |

Food Fair A Big
Success
Hill Country Elementary
and Bandera ISD hosted a Food Fair sponsored by the San
Antonio Food Bank on October 29th. During the Food Fair,
nearly eleven tons of food was distributed to families
in need by a group of volunteers from Hill Country
Elementary. Sixty four families comprised of 235
individuals were served. Participants ranged in age from
young families to senior citizens. The San Antonio Food
Bank serves Bandera County through food pantries and
food fairs. The Food Bank reports that over 38 million
Americans are food insecure, a state when family
resources are so limited that families run out of food,
or parents skip meals so that children can eat. Of those
in need, 13 million are children and 4 million are
seniors. The San Antonio Food Bank was used by
approximately 27 million people last year as emergency
food assistance. For more information or assistance,
contact the San Antonio Food Bank at 210-0337-3663 or go
