This briefing is a summary of action taken by the
Bandera Independent School District Board of Trustees at
their recent scheduled meeting. It is provided as a
courtesy and not a requirement of the Texas Open
Meetings Act. It is not intended to
act as the official minutes which are maintained by the
Superintendent’s office and approved by the Board at a
later date.
Bandera ISD Board Briefings – November 11, 2008
Call to Order and Establish Quorum:

A meeting of the Bandera ISD Board of Trustees
was held on November 11th at the Bandera
ISD Central Office located at 815 Pecan Street in
Bandera. Board President, Genevieve Modarelli called
the meeting to order at 6:30 PM. A quorum was
established with Board Members Rick Groomer, Greg
Hicks, Laurie Neff, Barbara Skipper, Lee Haile, Don
Miller, and Genevieve Modarelli in attendance.

Brad Domitrovich, Bandera ISD Communications, presented
the recognition items to the Board which included:

Jacob Berger and Emily Frost from Bandera Middle School, were recognized as
"Students of the Month" by Superintendent
Dr. Kevin
Dyes, Board President Genevieve Modarelli, and Principal
Gary Bitzkie.

Emma Degoes from
Alkek Elementary School was recognized by Bandera
Chamber of Commerce Executive Administrator Cerise
Ripps and
Superintendent Dr. Kevin Dyes for receiving
the "Best of Show" award at the Chamber sponsored
Hunters BBQ Outdoor Art Show.

Dr. Kevin Dyes presented the Superintendent's
Report which included:

Attendance of
2,501 as of 10/10/08 and an ADA of 2,335.

Students Activities including BHS Football
District Champs, BHS Girl's Cross-Country District
Champs, FFA Leadership Development, Band
Competition, Choir Competition, and Theatre
performances.

Progress of
Leadership Academy and how participants are
assisting district administrators.

The success of
the recent Food Fair at Hill Country Elementary.

Increase in
participation of the Ripple Effects program.

Legislative
Update.

A brief review of
the AEIS report.

Dr.
Kevin Dyes presented an update on Career and
Technology Education (CATE) Courses Planning and
Development.
Regular Agenda:

The Board approved accepting the Gift Donation from
the Education Foundation to Bandera ISD for Teacher
Grants in the amount of $9,546.

The Board
approved accepting an $11,800 donation from the Hill
Country PTO for a digital reader board at Hill
Country Elementary.

The Board
approved the 2008-2009 Grounds Maintenance Contract
with Hilltop Landscaping.

The Board
approved the Bandera ISD Audit for the 2007-2008
school year.
