Camp Cookie Rides the Trail to Hill Country Elementary
Students at Hill Country
Elementary experienced Texas History though the songs
and narration K. R. Wood – also known as “Camp Cookie”. K.R. is an artist from Austin who sings songs
and tells stories that depict the State of Texas in its
early years. Bringing his chuck wagon, lots of hats, and
pogo stick horses … K.R. entertained the students during
two group assemblies early Friday morning.

FFA Builds
Leadership Skills
This summer, 14 members of
the Bandera FFA traveled to Lubbock to interact with
more than 10,000 of their peers at the Texas State FFA
Convention. The State Convention is a time for FFA
members to gather together to celebrate the previous
year’s accomplishments and to be recognized for their
leadership efforts. Two Bandera FFA members, Joseph
Burke and Tracy Grill were awarded the coveted Lone Star
FFA Degree. The Lone Star Degree is the highest degree
awarded by the Texas FFA.

Celebration
Honors Jan Turner
Alkek Elementary Teacher
Jan Turner was honored with a celebratory breakfast in
honor of the announcement of her retirement from Bandera
ISD. Turner has been teaching for a total of 31 years
with the past eleven spent at Bandera ISD.
